Code-X is no longer a plug-in. It used to be, however we decided to replace the plug-in with a series of FileMaker scripts and custom functions, making Code-X safer, easier to implement and more flexible.
Full Access to Code-X
You as the developer have full access to the Code-X scripts and custom functions and a free to make changes to Code-X however you see fit. If Code-X doesn't quite meet your needs, no problem, you can customise it yourself. You are in control.
Run-time solutions
Since Code-X is a set of FileMaker scripts and custom functions, it can be used in your run-time solutions with no effort at all.
FileMaker Requirements
Code-X has been designed to work with FileMaker 8 to 11+. Please note: FileMaker Pro Advanced is needed for one-time setup of Code-X within your solutions because it uses custom functions, however once set up is complete, regular FileMaker Pro is sufficient.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Code-X protect my solution from password recovery programs?
No, Code-X cannot protect you from password recovery programs. We suggest that you use FileMaker Pro Advanced to permanently remove the master account from your distribution copy of your solution. You can learn how to do this here.
Can my solution be locked to a users computer so they can't illegally redistribute my solution?
Yes, you can. You'll find an example in the demo that generates license codes based on the users NIC Handle. The NIC Handle is a unique code for each computer and you can use this code to generate license codes that will only run on the computer it was licensed, however it is important to understand that locking your solution to a users computer will potentially require more effort on your part as the developer because if your users change computers or replace their hard drive then you will need to have procedures in place to effectively manage reissuing of license codes to these users.
Can I protect multiple solutions so that license codes cannot be used from one solution to another?
Yes, you can protect multiple solutions with Code-X, and each solution can have their own unique license codes even for the same clients. Let's just say you have three solutions; if a client purchases 'Solution A', you don't want them to be able to use their license code to register 'Solution B' and 'Solution C' if they have not purchased them. Each solution will have unique registration codes so if your client wants to use the other solutions they will have to purchase them first.
Is Code-X a plug-in?
No. It used to be a plug-in, however we decided to rewrite it as a series of FileMaker scripts. This gives you the developer greater control as you are free to customise the code however you like.
Do I get full access to Code-X source code?
Absolutely. Once you purchase Code-X, you'll receive full access to it's source code and you will be able to customise Code-X however you like.
