FileMaker Inc. published a case study how a custom built database system by Hi-Voltage helped the 2006 National Census of Homeless Students.
The Census aims to identify and provide vital statistics on the status of homeless school students across Australia. Over 2,000 State and Catholic schools assisted in the gathering of statistics. Each school was faxed a survey to complete which then needed to be registered in the Census' central system, with outstanding school surveys followed up by telephone in a Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) centre.
Swinburne worked on the Census in partnership with RMIT and in close cooperation with the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
